Configuring Proxy Server Settings |
A proxy server or firewall is a computer between your PC and the Internet, there to protect it from viruses and other threats, improve performance, and filter out unacceptable web pages. Proxy servers or firewalls are most common in businesses and other larger networks.
If you access the Internet through a proxy server or firewall, you may need to change the proxy settings in Xdrive Desktop to have a smooth and successful experience.
On the Xdrive tab in the main window, click Settings.
In the Settings window, click the Proxy tab. There are three options to choose from:
Autodetect Proxy Settings: With this option selected, Xdrive Desktop will attempt to discover what proxy settings other programs, such as your Web Browser, use, and apply the same settings. (Recommended)
Don't Use a Proxy Server: This setting can be used if no proxy server or firewall is used, and the Internet is accessed directly from the PC that will be launching Xdrive Desktop.
Use a Proxy Server: Select this option if you must manually configure your proxy server settings. You will need the following information to manually configure these settings:
Server: The IP address of your proxy server or firewall.
Port: The TCP port used to connect to your proxy server or firewall.
Username: The username, if any, that you use to authenticate with your proxy server or firewall.
Password: The password, if any, that you use to authenticate with your proxy server or firewall.
Note: If you don't know the correct information to manually configure your proxy server settings, please contact the administrator of your network.
When finished making changes, click OK to return to the main window.
Proxy server settings rarely need to be changed, but any changes that are necessary will be maintained for future logins.
